BEST ANSWER: As near as I could determine the lane cedar chest lock model 25-1 is recessed into the front of the chest. I do not have the dimensions of the recess. The model #28233 is a surface mounted lock that mounts on the inside of the chest with a through hole to accommodate the key cylinder. If the recess area does not interfere with mounting of the model #28233, theoretically, you could use it as a replacement. However, you would want to fill in the void (recess area) in some manner to get a clean look to the completed installation.
